Unified Communications Delivers on its Promise

uc_300x240According to an April 2011 report by CDW, a leading provider of technology products and services to business, unified communications (UC) implementation rates doubled from 2010 to 2011, with 16 percent of organizations fully implemented today.

“Across industries, organizations are embracing ‘anytime, anyplace’ access to information to boost productivity. They also continue to look for opportunities to use budget dollars more effectively,” said Christine Holloway, vice president of converged infrastructure solutions at CDW. “Unified communications delivers on both of those objectives.”

The 2011 CDW Unified Communications Tracking Poll, based on a survey of 900 IT professionals, also found that 76 percent of organizations that have fully implemented UC and track return on investment (ROI) say that ROI has met or exceeded their expectations. Respondents ranked increased employee productivity (53 percent) and reduced operating costs (48 percent) as the leading benefits of UC, noting that these results are most important to their organizations.

Recently, some of our customers shared examples of how 8x8 cloud based UC solutions are helping them be more productive. Perhaps one or more of these scenarios might apply to your business:

We have remote and local employees and now have an easy way to communicate from literally anywhere with Virtual Office. I was at a local Starbucks with my headset on and a customer called my extension and I got a sale right there with my Mocha! It is so nice to be virtual and know that all I have to do is hit an extension to reach one of my fellow employees no matter where I am and no matter where they are.

I travel over 50% of the time and spend countless hours in the air. Every hour in the air was lost billing time and I needed a way to correct that. I was spending hundreds of dollars using the in-flight phones but those are not available on all flights so it was hard to schedule a conference call. Now recently more and more flights provide Internet access, which has helped in many ways, but the most important way is utilizing my Virtual Office Pro service and being able to have conference calls while I’m flying. I have increased my billing time each week by 20% and my expenses decreased well over $200 each week.

This service has helped to streamline my insurance office and build customer loyalty. My clients are able to get answers to frequently asked questions via my menus, access to helpful contact numbers, and are greeted with a professional interface with each contact. I spend a significant amount of time in the field meeting with clients and the ability to receive my voicemail messages via my smart phone help keep me in touch even out of the office.
