On behalf of every Team8 here at 8x8, I am so proud to share that our colleague Brittney Johnson is among the inspiring honorees on the third annual Channel Futures DE&I 101 list. The list recognizes individuals from a wide spectrum of multicultural backgrounds who are doing important work to drive diversity, equity and inclusion in the communications and technology channel through their words, actions and leadership, and I can think of no better leader than Brittney.

Brittney joined me on the 8x8 customer marketing team after nine incredible years at Fuze which was acquired by 8x8 in early 2022. I was so impressed by her both personally and professionally right from the start, and this recognition is a fantastic representation of the passion and commitment she brings to all she does not only for our company, but for others, too.

In Brittney’s own words: “I am honored to have been named to the third annual Channel Futures DE&I 101 list. As a person of color, diversity, equity, and inclusion (DE&I) holds immense significance for me, as it promotes openness and creates an environment where everyone feels respected and valued. My involvement in the DE&I committee has been a rewarding experience, especially when it comes to witnessing the collective efforts of team members uniting to champion change and advance initiatives— all while raising greater awareness. Together, we successfully established a resource page, implemented updates to the company's website, initiated a monthly newsletter, and enhanced overall communication strategies.

“In every industry, including the tech sector, DE&I represents the commitment to guaranteeing fair access to opportunities and resources, breaking down systemic barriers, and advocating for fairness at all organizational levels. Promoting DE&I is about shaping an industry that not only mirrors the diverse global community it serves, but also actively plays a role in fostering positive social change and innovation on a global scale.”

About the Channel Futures DE&I list

Selected from nominations reviewed by the Channel Futures editorial team with input from advisory members, the Channel Futures DE&I 101 list was created to spotlight the efforts of dedicated and determined individuals working to eliminate discrimination in the industry. Many of these individuals work behind the scenes and too often their efforts go unacknowledged.

“DE&I work requires levels of dedication and determination that many people do not possess,” notes Informa Tech Channels GM Kelly Danziger. “But as anyone on this list can tell you, the work is as rewarding as it is hard. We are pleased to be able to recognize individuals such as Brittney, and hopefully, amplify their efforts.”

Nominations for the DE&I 101 list were solicited on the Channel Futures website and through social media. Between April 12 and July 14, individuals could nominate themselves or others for the list. Applications were open to managers, leaders and individual contributors. All submissions were reviewed by members of the Channel Futures editorial team with input from advisory board members.

Congratulations and thanks for all you do, Brittney, from all of us here at 8x8.
