Switchboard Pro Enhancement: Forward Calls to External Number
8x8 has launched a new feature for Switchboard Pro: Forward Calls to an External Number (a number that is not associated with company PBX such as an employee cell phone). You can also call this feature a “Blind Transfer” to external phone number.
An inbound call reaches the receptionist who is using Switchboard Pro
The caller asks receptionist to transfer call to employee.
Receptionist knows the employee is off site and transfers the call to employee’s mobile phone number.
The receptionist copy/pastes the number or type the number.
The receptionist presses right arrow icon and the call is transferred to employee’s mobile phone.
How does it work?
Receive an inbound call
Click the down arrow on the call tile
Enter a phone number in the Forwarding Call box
Now press the blue arrow next to the phone number
Observe that the transfer completes
Call transfer to International numbers is allowed
Pressing “Enter/Return” key does not complete external transfer. This will be fixed.
Telephone number entered is not validated. If receptionist enters letters or punctuation, the call will fail without warning. We are creating number validation and warning message before attempting to dial.
